On Friday the 28th January 2011, in collaboration with Just Africa and Roland Lundallof the South African Wine Report, the South African Society in Sweden held an intimate wine tasting. Roland lead us through 4 South African wines: Foot of Africa Chenin Blanc 2010, Waterford Estate Chardonnay 2008, Anura Pinotage/Syrah 2009and Tokara Directors Reserve 2006.
The event, and indeed the wine, was enjoyed by all and Sommelier, Roland Lundall, was a fitting host, providing the guests with his relaxed approach to wine. Thank you all for joining us, and I’m already looking forward to the next wine tasting event!
There has been much debate surrounding the Vuvuzela during the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Our Chairman, Marc Harding, was recently interviewed by SVT regarding the possible ban of the Vuvuzela during the World Cup event. See below for SVT's interview...
Many years of waiting was finally over when the FIFA World Cup 2010 kicked-off in South Africa at the 100 000 seater Soccer City stadium in Soweto. The South Africa Society in Sweden (SASS) gathered for this historic event when South Africa's Bafana Bafana opened the tournament against Mexico.
SASS's Chairman, Marc Harding, was interviewed on Swedish radio station P1 during the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. We wish Bafana Bafana the best of luck, and look forward to more World Cup action in the coming weeks!
On Friday the 30th of April 2010 we celebrated our nations 16th Freedom Day Anniversary by doing what South African's do best... braai. The event was hosted at Villa Brevik on Lidingö and was well attended. It was a priviledge to have our Ambassador, S R (Zeph) Makgetla, in attendance who gave a short speech to commemorate the occasion.
Thank you to all friends and members of the South African Society in Sweden who came together to celebrate this important day in history!
